12.20.09_Boston's Historic Park Street Church, Final Wedding of 2009 | Boston Wedding Photographer

OK, OK, I know. I've been talking all week about being on vacation and offline but I shot my last wedding of the year last night. Even better, it's already edited and online (and early Christmas present for Kristin & Dan as well as myself! Oh, Beckie too!)

Here are some of my favorites from the shoot at the beautiful Park Street Congregational Church in downtown Boston.

I love this staircase that leads up to the bridal room. We took some quiet pre-ceremony portraits of the bride Kristin there:

 

My second shooter Jen captured this image of the boys being lead in prayer by Reverend Walter. Love it!

 

During the ceremony, this caught my eye. It always makes me laugh when so many guests have their point-and-shoots out at a wedding. I feel like shouting, "Don't worry guys, I got it! Just enjoy the show!" but I know that would never work!

 

Since we didn't cover the reception, I really worked hard to capture Kristin & Dan interacting with their guests at the church's receiving line. Oh happy day!

12.18.09_Closed for the Holidays.

The final client packages are in the mail, all the sittings are edited...and now it's time for a long winter's nap! OK, maybe not a nap with three kids around...what about a trip to warmer environs? That'll work!

As of today, Friday, December 18th, 2009, we will be closed for holiday vacation until Monday, January 4th, 2010 in order to take time to visit and celebrate with family and friends.  While on vacation, our email and voicemail will be returned as quickly as possible (when one is in vacation-mode!). 

Email is always the best way to reach us. Orders will still be accepted through the web gallery but delivery time will be delayed slightly because of the restricted holiday hours of our office and our professional labs.

12.02.09_Welcome Nico | Boston Newborn Photographer

My friends Cassie and Angelo welcomed their first child last week and Nico is just beautiful. Cassie promised me she'd let me torture her first-born and little Nico was a trouper! Congratulations guys...Nico is a lucky guy. Here are some of my favorites from today's shoot.

This makes me laugh...Nico was making some goofy baby faces so Cassie gave him a little taste of his own medicine!

Baby's know their moms the second they are born and Nico is no exception. I love his hand on Cassie's shoulder...

 

We played around with a new bright green backdrop. I love Nico's profile...as much as he wanted to keep his eyes on me (no joke!) Cassie helped redirect his attention for this shot!

It is always such fun when a previous wedding client calls me to do a family portrait. Even better when they call me before the baby's even arrived for a maternity shoot. Sharon and Shawn are such a beautiful couple and I was happy to occupy Sharon for some of her modified-bedrest day!

There was gorgeous afternoon light pouring into their home...loved the graphic pattern from the window shade on Sharon's belly.

OK, who am I kidding...baby makes FOUR. Sharon and Shawn's beloved Oscar is their true "first born". I am honored to have taken their first official family portraits! 

11.18.09_Melanie & Colin are Married. [Boston Wedding Photographer, Omni Parker House]

Melanie & Colin (a fellow Skidmore grad) were married at the Omni Parker House in Boston late last month. I'm working on their complete wedding edit but wanted to get them a sneak peek of their glorious day. 

Melanie was a gorgeous bride with a smashing sense of style. LOVED working with her.

Seems that updating my blog is at the last thing on my list these days. It's not that I'm not shooting great things that I'd love to share...actually it's the opposite. It's been a wild couple of months at KCK Photography. Weddings and portraits and headshots...oh my.

I got to do another cool athlete shoot (remember the yoga shots from the summer) a couple of weeks ago for kick ass personal trainer Jen Brickey. It seems that life is always rushing by at a million miles per hour. The past few weeks - and the weeks to come for that matter - are no exception. This is always my busy time of year...fall weddings, family portraits and holiday orders always keep me running. Today, I decided to take a break and take the kids apple picking. So what if it was raining? We had a ball!

It's that time of year again...the seasons are changing, the kids are back to school, the holidays will be here before we know it and it's time for Fall's Portraits in the Park!

We will be booking two days of sittings on Saturday October 10th and Sunday October 11th. Saturday's sessions will be offered at Larz Anderson Park in Brookline and Sunday's sessions will be at the Arnold Arboretum in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston.

Both mini (30 minute) and full (1 hour) sessions are available for $150 and $300 respectively. The sessions include the creative fee, a private web gallery for viewing & sharing images and a 5x7 of your favorite image from the session. Time slots are available from 10am-4pm. The days book up quickly so please the studio as soon as possible to reserve your spot.

09.09.09_Henry Goes to 'Cool.

Most mommies sound like broken records when they tell you "time flies"...but it does! Our youngest Henry started a part-time preschool program this week and he seems like such a big boy in that context. What happened to my baby? Today as we walked in he started saying "Cool, cool"...he knew where he was and was excited to be at school! (Have I mentioned my son is adorable!?!?)

Here are a couple of my favorite recent portraits of Henry. The first shows him in his big boy glory and the second I snapped of him in a mischievous moment after stealing mommy's car keys.

 

Justin and I often say we can't imagine life without our third. He is a true bundle of joy, such a good boy and a constant reminder of how blessed we are. 

I'm often overwhelmed with the quantity of images I take (and therefore need to edit) of my kids. But having these images allows me to relive moments with them over and over. It often points out qualities of their personalities I wouldn't otherwise notice in the pace of everyday life. And in life's rougher mommy moments, it reminds me that it's not all bad!

08.24.09_Back to Life.

Coming off of a two-week vacation can be rough. But coming back to a fabulous couple like Rodrigo and Tina makes it easy!! I photographed their wedding yesterday at the beautiful Turn Hill Mansion in Ipswich. Here's a sneak peak of one of my favorite portraits of the lovely Tina!
