06.24.09_3 hours, 70 kids and a ton of fun!

Today I volunteered my time again to do class photos at Caitlin's pre-school. It took about 3 hours of hard "wrangling" but I was able to nail about 98% of the kids...a few just didn't want to have their photos taken! ;) I usually do these sessions outdoors but the weather just didn't want to cooperate. We'd already rescheduled the session twice to today I lugged in my backdrop & light stands and went to work!

Like the class project I did with Matthew's kindergarten class earlier in the month, taking photos at Caitlin's school is a great way for me to contribute my time and energy to her school as well as show Caitlin - and her friends - what I do all day!

Here's one of my favorites of Caitlin.

(FYI, Caitlin chose the outfit and I relented realizing that when I look at this photo in 30 years I'll remember Caitlin's love affair with Hello Kitty and that her favorite colors were pink and yellow! It was a reminder to myself to embrace my kids for what they are...not what I wish they would be!!!)

I kicked off my NYC portrait weekend with the sweetest family. Scott and Tara's three boys greeted me with big smiles...even though I later found out Christopher was fighting a fever all morning!

06.02.09_Fun, fun and more fun...man am I tired!

This weekend I was in New York City and Connecticut shooting a ton of family portraits! It was so nice to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones. Saturday and Sunday I was in Central Park. It was wonderful to get inspired by a new surrounding...I suppose doing most of my sittings in Boston can get a little predictable! ;) And I couldn't have asked for better weather. I'll get a sneak peek up as soon as I can!

Today I headed into Matthew's kindergarten classroom to do a photography project with the kids. I put together a simple back-drop/one light set-up and let the kids take photos of eachother. Since I didn't get releases from the other parents, I can only post one of Matthew here. The kids all seemed to have a lot of fun and it was pure joy to see them get silly in front of the camera. The shooters did an awesome job....I think there may be a little competition heading my way!

Now the crazy boy comes out...

The photos are going to be used for the class' art gallery opening next week. 

05.31.09_Welcome Maeve.

Mary and Steve - a wedding couple of mine from 2007 - introduced me to their lovely daughter Maeve earlier this month. Troopers that they are, they came to my house straight from their first road trip with little Maeve...all the way from New Jersey! Mary and Steve are already such comfortable, loveing and competent parents to Maeve...I was impressed! Here are a couple of my favorites!
