01.25.09_Six Years Ago.

Six years ago today, my life changed forever. Actually, six years ago right now, I think I was in a bathtub cursing at my nurse under my breath and waiting for my OB to give me an epidural...but I digress...

For any of you who have met Matthew, you know what a shining star he is. He's smart, handsome, kind and funny. Don't get me wrong, he's also a regular 6-year-old too who likes to tease his sister, throw fits when life doesn't go his way and finagle as much junk food as possible.

Matthew was our first and at this point, three kids later, it's hard to remember what it was like when it was just Matthew. Now I look at him, growing each day in more ways than I can count, and I'm so proud of him. Being a mom is the best thing I have ever done and ever will do. Period.

Being a mom to Matthew makes me better at everything else I do. His arrival inspired me to start my business (which allows me flexibility to spend precious time with all three kids). He inspires me to set a good example by being a better wife, friend and neighbor. And, while he tests my patience every day, he has made me a more patient person. Someone who can appreciate slowing down to look at the colors of a sunset (seriously) or spend 5 minutes separating teeny-tiny Lego pieces.

Happy Birthday Matthew!

01.07.09_Fiesty and fearless.

My kids are such fun. I think I'm most proud of how they seem to really love eachother. They have fun together. Henry mainly just watches these days but, as the days pass, I see his eyes light up more and more as the older two do their wild n' crazy things. He'll be tagging along soon enough.

We were fortunate enough to spend the holidays in Miami this year with my family. This is one of my favorite shots of the trip. Still in their jammies, Matthew and Caitlin were racing back and forth in this car. Having a ball, right on the verge of total chaos & injury, as usual, they had a ball. But I really didn't appreciate this shot until I got to peek at it in Photoshop and enlarge it on my computer. I mean, look at the look on their faces!!! I think we're in trouble in about 14 years when Caitlin gets her driver's license, no? Totally devilish and in the moment. And Matthew is attacking life with everything he has. Both of his feet literally off the ground. Gosh, I love them.

What do you love? Did you take a moment today to appreciate it? Did you have an "I get to..." moment? Tonight, I get to see Justin. I think we both wish we were back on the beach in Miami but today I want him to know how much everything he does for our family (and me) means to me.

09.29.08_Favorites from Maine.

We had another great trip to Maine this year! Here are three of my favorites of the kids.

Sir Henry rocking out in the exer-saucer:

Caitlin being her usual sweet, yet spunky, self!

And finally, Matthew flying a kite - maybe one of my all-time favorite photos of him. Happy and moving...totally in his element!

Now, if only we could get a photo of all three of them TOGETHER! Or, heaven forbid, a photo of all five of us!!! Now THAT would be something! Enjoy...and don't forget to take a photo of your kids today!

05.25.08_Happy Holiday Weekend.

Like a lot of photographers, I have worked my fair share of holiday weekends! Lucky me this year I am home with my family all weekend - a lucky treat. I did shoot another session with the Cheng Family yesterday (which I will blog later in the weekend) but I actually got to take some pictures of my own kids yesterday and today! What a treat for me!

Hope you are all enjoying this awesome weekend (at least here in Boston!) doing something you love with the people you love the most!

First off a nice shot of all three kids...don't you just love Henry's little tongue sticking out?!?!

05.03.08_Caitlin is FOUR! Uh, I mean two.

Caitlin turns two today although if you ask her she'd tell you she's turning four! Justin and I might argue she is turning twenty-two today based on her personality!

Here's is my gorgeous girl this morning on the front porch.

My parents got her a motorized tractor for her birthday which both she and Matthew are getting a kick out of! To me it looks like a preview for driver's ed classes in about 14 years!

05.02.08_Congratulations Meghan and Sarah!

My two awesome cousins are having graduations this spring. Meghan graduated today from Northeastern here in Boston and Sarah is finishing up her masters degree in Arizona. Congratulations to both and it was great to celebrate with both of them last night in the North End!

04.25.08_Hands. Full.

Caitlin is awesome. She's not even two and she just amazes me with her verbal and social skills. One of her many skills is giving her momma a little attitude. Check out this shot. Lest you think she's rotten...she can go from this look of death to big smiles in the blink of an eye! I can't even remember what two-year-old injustice she was enduring here but it must have been something good...like me telling her 'no'!

Oh, and I took this shot with my NEWEST baby, my new Nikon D3. This camera is awesome and I can't wait to put it to use this weekend at my Spring Portrait Weekend! Yahoo!

04.17.08_Playing Hookie.

Matthew and I played hookie last Thursday. M skipped is gymnastics class and we hopped on the T into Boston. Something I try to do on a regular basis is shoot just for fun. Matthew got a camera for his birthday so we each brought our gear and took photos around Boston. I obviously got a lot of Matthew but also had fun shooting architecture and abstract stuff. Here are some of my favorites:

Getting on the T near our house. Matthew took some cool shots of the T heading outbound...the kids has a great eye! Then Matthew shooting me...Pensive boy on the T...taking in the sights! Finally, Matthew in his full glory...hanging with his mom and pumped up on sugar (we highly recommend "Sprinkles" in Faneuil Hall!!!)
