Six years ago today, my life changed forever. Actually, six years ago right now, I think I was in a bathtub cursing at my nurse under my breath and waiting for my OB to give me an epidural...but I digress...
For any of you who have met Matthew, you know what a shining star he is. He's smart, handsome, kind and funny. Don't get me wrong, he's also a regular 6-year-old too who likes to tease his sister, throw fits when life doesn't go his way and finagle as much junk food as possible.
Matthew was our first and at this point, three kids later, it's hard to remember what it was like when it was just Matthew. Now I look at him, growing each day in more ways than I can count, and I'm so proud of him. Being a mom is the best thing I have ever done and ever will do. Period.
Being a mom to Matthew makes me better at everything else I do. His arrival inspired me to start my business (which allows me flexibility to spend precious time with all three kids). He inspires me to set a good example by being a better wife, friend and neighbor. And, while he tests my patience every day, he has made me a more patient person. Someone who can appreciate slowing down to look at the colors of a sunset (seriously) or spend 5 minutes separating teeny-tiny Lego pieces.
Happy Birthday Matthew!
